Our office is experienced in handling guardianship matters for children born with disabilities, the elderly and other individuals who require assistance. Guardianship is the process by which the “ward” is declared by the Court to be cognitively incapable of making their own decisions. This can be tailored to purely financial decisions, medical, or some specified area of the ward’s life where they require assistance.
Moreover, our firm uses supported decision making practices, wherein we assist disabled person with making decisions about their life (rather than purely making decisions for the person without their input).
Not every person with disabilities requires a guardian. Our office can advise you as to your legal rights.
